We are going to make a class desk calendar and we will get it printed through Lulu.com
Each finished calendar will be available for purchase. You can give it as christmas gifts! stocking stuffers! Your family will be so proud!
This project is a very similar though slightly modified version of the last project that Ellen Lupton does with her Type Classes. You remember Ellen, right? She wrote your supremely awesome Typography book. duh!
This project has many parts.
Part One: Create 3 type illustrations. One must say WORD and the other BOOK and the third WORD BOOK.
These will be small so don't get too detailed.
The final illustration size should be 3x3
These are due: November 8th
Part Two: You will be given an emotion word. Take your emotion word and write a short phrase or sentence incorporating that word. Study your phrase and look for ways that the letters in the phrase can connect with each other. Look for ascenders and descenders that could meet or overlap, or look for common elements such as circular forms. Working by hand, draw a configuration of letters and words whose elements have a distinctive visual character. The letters might be tall, short, wide, curvy, blocky, etc. Combine the letters to build and overall structure. No color restrictions.
Final Illustration will be 7x7
These are due: November 15th
